The all-new Vauxhall Vivaro van will make its world debut at the CV Show in Birmingham on 30th April, before going on sale in the summer.
Like its predecessor the third-generation Vivaro will be built at Vauxhall’s Luton plant, helping to secure 1250 jobs.
The latest mid-sized panel van is based on the new EMP2 platform made by PSA Group, which took over Vauxhall in 2017. The van will be offered in two lengths (L1H1 4.95m and L2H1 5.30m) and a range of builds including panel van, doublecab for up to six occupants and a platform chassis.
New Vivaro models will offer a maximum cargo capacity of 6.6 cubic metres, together with a payload of up to 1,400kg, 200kg more than the outgoing model. Towing weights increase too with a maximum trailer load of 2,500kg, 500kg more than the previous Vivaro.
Three trim levels will be available, Edition, Sportive and Elite, while for the first time all versions will be supplied as standard with a dual side sliding door, driver/passenger airbags and cruise control with a speed-limiter.
Vauxhall says that Sportive versions will offer a higher specification than the outgoing equivalent model – body-coloured mirrors, handles and body side moulds, an alarm, auto lights and wipers, acoustic windscreen and thickened side glazing will all be standard equipment
Range-topping Elite models will be supplied with a strong safety suite including lane departure warning, speed limit information, an intelligent speed monitor, driver attention alert and blind spot detection.
Order books for the new Vivaro open in February at prices starting from £21,240 excluding VAT. Future plans include an all-electric model due in 2020.
In future Vauxhall and sister brand Opel will take responsibility for producing vans for all of PSA’s brands. Production at Luton, which has built more than a million Vivaro-type vans since 2001, is planned to increase to 100,000 units per year.
