Citroën has updated its Relay van range, with the changes headlined by a pair of more efficient diesel engines.
The Relay, which is the largest van in Citroën’s light-commercial line-up, is now available with a pair of upgraded 2.2-litre diesel units. Both are Euro 6.3 emissions-compliant, with CO2 emissions figures reduced by up to 9g/km over their predecessors.
The 120hp unit offers 310Nm of torque and the 140hp version produces 340Nm. A six-speed manual transmission with stop-start technology transmits power to the wheels.
More tech, better security
The Relay range also gets more equipment as standard. For example, entry-level X models now include cruise control with a programmable speed limiter and a 12-volt socket in the load area. Enterprise and Driver trim levels now include a new USB charging socket on the dashboard and a tablet computer holder.
Security has been beefed up, with the alarm and deadlocks already available on most models now fitted to X versions. Meanwhile, ‘window van’ variants gain a lower central glovebox and electrical connections interface box.
Electrical Relay
Citroën’s electric powertrains have now found their way to the Relay. The new ë-Relay Electric is available with a choice of battery packs, with either 37kWh or 70kWh capacity. As a reult, the larger version offers an official driving range of up to 139 miles. Both can be recharged to 80% of capacity in one hour using a 50kW rapid charger.
With a maximum load volume of 15m3 and a maximum payload of 1,150kg, the ë-Relay Electric becomes Citroën’s largest and most spacious electric van.
The diesel Relay range is available in a choice of Panel Van, Crew Van or Window Van formats. In addition, there are four lengths and three heights available. The ë-Relay Electric can be specified in Panel Van, Window Van or Chassis Cab body styles.
Prices for the new Relay range start from £26,655, basic excluding VAT.
