The Ford Fiesta Sport Van has made its debut at the CV Show, alongside a host of new connectivity technologies for the brand’s CV range.
The Fiesta Sport Van unveiled at the Birmingham event returns a compact, economical option to Ford’s van range, which currently dominates the UK CV market. The vehicle is based on the three-door variant of the current Fiesta passenger car.
In the van variant the rear seats and boot make way for a cargo space of around one cubic metre with a 1.3-metre load length and 500kg payload capacity. A bulkhead constructed in composite and mesh separates the load space from the front cabin, while there is protective trim to the side walls and a rubber floor with four tie-down hooks.
The Fiesta Sport van will be available with either a 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine of 125hp, or the 120hp 1.5-litre diesel.
Standard equipment on the Fiesta Sport Van is the Sync 3 system , accessed through a floating, tablet-inspired eight-inch colour touchscreen and compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android auto smartphone systems.
Using the Ford Sync AppLink feature, drivers are able to access a wide range of key apps from their smartphone , now including the popular Waze traffic app and Cisco WebEx. Also available is the new FordPass Connect on-board modem, also debuting at the show.
Also launched on the latest Transit, FordPass Connect turns a van into a mobile wifi hotspot with connectivity for up to 10 devices. Live traffic updates for the Sync 3 navigation system will help drivers to keep to schedules, while a range of features are also available through the FordPass mobile app.
These features include Vehicle Health Alerts, advising when service action may be needed, such as low oil life, failed bulbs, or other vehicle alerts; a Vehicle Status guide, for checking fuel levels, alarm status, tyre pressures and other aspects; remote locking and a locator helping drivers find their vehicle in busy car parks or work locations.
The FordPass app can also be configured to operate across multiple vehicles in a customer fleet, or connect to multiple accounts.
